Had a wonderful time with friends for mine and my best friend’s birthday a few months ago. We spent all day in Disneyland enjoying the rides, cool winter holiday decorations, light shows and of course pigging out on churros and Mickey Mouse pancakes. One of the places we were excited to try out for lunch was Blue Bayou. In the updated Pirates of the Caribbean ride, you come across a night scene in which there’s an actual restaurant inside. Every time we passed by that place I always wanted to try it, so it was great that my best friend was able to get us reservations!
The food in general was not bad, but very rich and heavy! A little pricey ($20-$30) but that’s the standard in Disneyland cuisine. The restaurant is located in New Orleans Square.
A view of the restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s quite romantic and feels like you’re dining outside at night.
Le Special de Monte Cristo
Turkey, ham, and swiss cheese in a battered egg bread, lightly fried to a golden brown. With Blue Bayou potatoes and seasonal vegetables. This was super crunchy and thick.
Buccaneer’s Beef Short Ribs – Slow-roasted, then finished in a Zinfandel demi-glaze. With Blue Bayou potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
Cajun-inspired salad, and Minute Maid Light Raspberry Lemonade in a keepsake cup with glowing clip-on figurine! Mine was Buzz Lightyear.
We also had the Royal Street Seafood Jambalaya – A robust combination of king crab, jumbo gulf shrimp, mahi mahi, tasso ham, andouille sausage and chicken, tossed with Cajun-style “dirty rice.” However, I forgot to get a picture of it =(
And since it was me and my best friend’s birthday, we got a complimentary scoop of ice cream!
